This package begins in the Junior Year in high school and ends at the end of the Senior Year in high school. This package is for those clients seeking one-on-one customized consultation and guidance regarding the college application process. The activities included in this package are described in the Outline of Services. This package consists of 20 hours of service including 10 face-to-face meetings generally on a monthly basis, email and phone interaction with the client, and consultant research time. The consultant will be available during posted office hours (included in contract) to answer questions of the client (student) and parents via email or the phone. The student will have certain assignments that will be clearly outlined that must be completed before or during some of the designated meetings in order to remain on schedule. This package includes:
- An initial consultation and intake interview
- An interest inventory report and interpretation
- Information on prospective majors and careers
- Identification of good fit colleges and universities
- Assistance with creating a personalized college planning spreadsheet
- Review of applications and essays to highlight strengths and interests
- Tips sheets and other resources to help manage the college application process
- Reminders for important deadlines (applications, scholarships, FAFSA, etc.)
- Assistance with the financial aid process
- Monthly newsletter sent via email with tips and suggestions for surviving the college application process as well as information on resources for students.
This package may be best for those students and families who have some sense of how to manage the college application process but seek additional expertise about the latest trends in college admission. This package consists of up to 12 hours of service including 6 face-to-face meetings generally on a monthly basis, email and phone interaction with the client, and consultant research time. This package should begin while a student is a junior in high school or through the first semester of the senior year and can last through the end of the senior year. It includes:
- An initial consultation and intake interview
- An interest inventory report and interpretation
- A review of and feedback about prospective schools
- Assistance with creating a personalized college planning spreadsheet
- Tips sheets and other resources to help manage the college application process through the end of the senior year.
Students and families who may not need the full range of services offered in the comprehensive or limited packages but would like consultation to answer specific questions may prefer this option. The terms of the services offered (i.e. when and how the client and consultant meet, face-to-face or via the phone), will depend on the type of service desired and the information sought by the client according to the full list of possible services provided as described in the Outline of Services. The hourly rate option may also be appropriate for families of students in grades 7 through 10 who would like to gain insight on specific steps to take to prepare for the college application process. In addition to the services listed in the Comprehensive and Limited College Planning Packages, the following services are available on an a la carte basis:
- Assistance with creating a personalized college planning worksheet
- Recommendations on course selection and academic planning
- Career exploration
- Assistance with identification of internships, summer enrichment programs and volunteer opportunities
- Interviewing for college admission, scholarships, special programs and employment
- Resume development for extra-curricular activities and employment
